After a convincing victory over Reddish Vale Golf Club in the Semi Final, the Old Links were set to face Romiley Golf Club in the final, to be played at Sale Golf Club on Sunday 23rd September.
The final was a very close affair, culminating in a fantastic finale that went to the final putt on the final green,
with Matt Taylor & Mike Wallace winning two of the last four holes to help the Old Links win the trophy for a third time in 23 years.

Saturday September 1st 2007 saw the running of the Old Links Trophy, a 36 hole open scratch competition
with a field of 60 low handicap players from the North West.
Paul Lowey (hcp +2) from Castletown GC (IOM) followed a stunning 66 with a 71 on a breezy day which saw average scores in the high 70s and the CSS rise to 73 for both rounds. Paul McFerran (hcp scr) from Childwall GC was 6 shots behind with a 73 and 70.

John Maree wins HSBC Matchplay Championship
This year's HSBC Amateur Match Play Championship reached a dramatic conclusion in the picturesque surroundings of Stapleford Park Golf Club (near Derby) at the weekend where John Maree of Bolton Old Links GC and Helen Orton of Forest of Arden GC were crowned as champions.
Maree capped a sparkling weekend of golf with a 2&1 victory over Tudor Park Golf Club's Stuart Anderson in the men's final while Orton finally saw off the challenge of Hampton Court Palace Golf Club's Aun Rhee at the 19th hole in the women's final.
"It's absolutely fantastic," commented an ecstatic Maree. "It's the biggest thing I've ever won and with 30,000 golfers having teed off in the competition, it's a privilege to be totally honest."
The two-handicapper was the form player of the weekend accounting for Adam Curtis (Forest Hill GC) 3&1 in Saturday's first round and Danny Sullivan
(Ferndown GC) 1up in the second round later the same day.
"Just keep fighting, keep going, keep playing, wait for your chances and keep at it," was the 24-year-old Maree's response when asked what had been the secret to his success over a gruelling weekend that saw finalists battle strong winds and a testing layout.
